.3.2. Model Set Up
Several inputs to the Forecast model are hand-entered based on the forecast and user preferences for generating forecast hydrographs. The following steps should be followed to set up the Forecast Model.
- Open the StartDay table slot in the green InputForecastData data object. Set the input to match the Forecast date as a Julian day (i.e. a value of 91 if the forecast date is April 1st and it is not a leap year).
- Adjust the Run Control to have an Initial Timestep of December 31 of the previous year (Start Timestep of January 1) and a Finish Timestep as the day prior to the forecast date.
- Select all objects – except for the red historical data objects – and synchronize the objects with the run control by selecting Workspace – Objects – Synchronize Object and then selecting Synchronize Selected Objects with Run Period and then clicking on the Sync button.
- Invoke the UpdatePointInflow and UpdateRGStorage DMIs to bring in needed information exported from the Accounting Model.
-Check the imported values in the reach and reservoir objects.
- Input forecasts to the Forecasts table slot based on the forecast information available at
http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/cgibin/bor.pl
for a selected exceedence level (i.e. 10%, 50%, 90%, etc.) for each forecast location.
-Input NaNs for the forecast for later months if needed.
