Error Message dialogs and Special Queries:

There were problems (assertion errors and other crashes) occuring when importing from a compressed file. A bug report will be filed. But for Scalar Slot import, we'll just not support compressed files.
[Added 10-29-2010] ... See Gnats 4979 ... Exporting to a compressed file (as well as Importing from a compressed file -- see prior item) is also a problem. This is now also disabled for Scalar Slots.
Read error. (Incorrect type of file selected for Import).
When picking a file to import, if the user manually enters a name for a file which does not exist, this error is shown (and control returns to the file selection dialog).
Overwriting an existing file (when exporting) needs to be confirmed by the user.
Attempting to export to an existing write-protected file.
